Intermediate Cup 2021

Aston Park reach Intermediate Cup Semi-Finals

Aston Park, the holders of the Intermediate Cup, reached the semi-finals of the Aylesbury and District Intermediate Cup 2021 with a convincing 8-0 sets win over Chesham 1879 on 29 July 2021. The team was Andrew Nurse/Pamela Reid and Nathan Glynn/Sue Hoey.

The opposition for the semi-final is Chesham Bois after they beat Long Crendon by 5 games following a count back from 4 sets all. The match will be another home game and gives us an advantage on the tarmac.

Well played team and let’s hope we can get a win in the semi-finals.

Ladies 1 make it 6 wins from 6 matches and should be promoted to Division 2

With only one match remaining, Ladies 1 (Sarah Baker, Anna Fryer, Anne Green, Sue Hoey and Pamela Reid) have made it six wins from six matches.

Victories over Cheddington 1 (4.5/3.5 sets), Thame 2 (5.5 /2.5 sets), Haddenham 1 (6.5/1.5 sets), Leighton Buzzard 1 (6.5 /1.5 sets), Chesham 1879 firsts (5/3 sets) and Linslade (4.5 sets/2.5 sets-rain interrupted) mean the team lead Division 3.

All five players have contributed to these excellent wins and it has been an outstanding performance from everyone. We believe it is the first time one of Aston Park’s Ladies Teams will have achieved promotion to Division 2.

Mixed 2’s off to a Flyer!

After months of lockdown and zero tennis we were all excited to get back into playing competitive tennis. For Mixed 2’s our first match of the summer 2021 league was in early May, away at Lacey Green. Despite a rain delay the team kept focussed and achieved an 8-0 sets victory. We have followed this up with convincing 7-1 wins at both Long Crendon and at home to Tring to put us top of the league.

We have 4 more tough matches to play but with the team full of confidence and all enjoying playing together we are hoping to win the league. Even if we don’t win we will certainly have fun trying!

Bucks Medley Team make it two wins from two matches

Following on from a win over Gerrards Cross Dukes Wood 2, Aston Park’s Medley Team recorded another excellent win over Great Missenden 2 on Saturday 29 May.  Despite playing for three hours in the full sun on clay courts, the team recorded a 5-3 set victory.  Well played Dan (still undefeated after 8 sets), Pamela, Sue and Andy.
